Consider rich, complex texts as related material so that you have plenty of detail – this will convince the markers that you have a solid understanding of the module rubric and important concepts. An earlier post explores the music video Stripsearch, while this post looks at a New Zealand advertisement for safe driving titled Mistake.

  • Freeze frame motif – slow motion disrupted narrative allows audience to contemplate choices made by personas and themselves
  • Diegetic sound amplifies realism – walking on crushed glass

  • Shot reverse shot of both drivers trying to make sense of situation – blame or fault?
  • Colloquial language and rhetorical questions reflect frustration of both men
  • Costuming represents range of socio-economic backgrounds – promotes audience inclusivity
