Music videos are rich cultural texts that represent diverse human experiences. From the gothic splendour of Nine Inch Nails to the bleak angst of Blur, from the ambiguous Avalanches to the upbeat melodies of Bernard Fanning, explore the possibilities of using music videos as related texts and evidence during contextual studies. The linked discussion for each music video text provides analysis exemplars to encourage students to draw on their own cultural understandings. The aim is for students to in develop a clear metalanguage for writing critically and reflectively about music video texts.
